Volunteer efforts have been underway across the region, with team members taking time to support local schools and community organizations.

Kentucky Power recently hosted a workshop at Hazard Community and Technical College (HCTC), providing on campus access to career resources, customer service assistance and information about its EnergyAdvantage programs. The event coincided with a $10,000 Kentucky Power Foundation grant presented to the college to support campus food pantry operations. Foundation grants are funded solely through shareholder dollars and not recovered in rates.

Kentucky Power’s targeted system improvements plan focuses on strengthening reliability and managing long-term costs. Each year, the operations team uses system performance data and local conditions to prioritize proactive maintenance and disciplined investments. Find out what the plan is for 2026.

In October, the Kentucky Power team attended a lunch-and-learn session in Frankfort to discuss the EKY Energy Affordability Act and its potential to securitize the Mitchell Plant, which could save customers $40 million annually. AEP's Public Policy Director and other representatives provided insights on federal affairs and the importance of securitization legislation. The team continues to engage with local stakeholders to advocate for customer savings and support.
