Kentucky Power crews will begin utility work along 12th Street in Ashland starting Monday, March 16, requiring temporary lane closures and traffic adjustments during daytime work hours. The project is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Kentucky Power has filed an application with the Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) seeking approval to construct a new cooling tower at the Mitchell Plant. The project is necessary to ensure continued access to reliable baseload energy at the lowest cost for customers.

With energy costs top of mind for many customers, Kentucky Power is outlining several steps taken during January’s cold weather to help manage electric bills.   

The Kentucky Power Foundation awarded a $25,000 grant to Appalachia Reach Out (ARO), an organization dedicated to serving families across Eastern Kentucky through housing support, community outreach and essential services. Grants and contributions are not included in customer rates. Kentucky Power employees also stepped up as volunteers to help with the rebuilding of a home destroyed by flooding earlier this year.

Kentucky Power recently hosted its Fall Emergency Management meeting with AEP’s Wildfire Mitigation team, the Kentucky Division of Forestry, community leaders and regional emergency management officials.

As colder weather settles in, Kentucky Power remains committed to helping customers stay comfortable and manage their energy costs. From payment assistance options to energy efficiency tips, there are many tools and support available for households across eastern Kentucky.

Kentucky Power is proud to announce the results of the sixth annual Power Up the Pantry food drive. The event, held Sept. 25 in Ashland, Hazard and Pikeville, brought in 2,593 pounds of food and $26,186 in donations, including $25,000 in grants awarded to the food banks by the Kentucky Power Foundation, helping provide thousands of meals for families facing food insecurity.

Kentucky Power is excited to announce the launch of new energy efficiency programs this week to help customers lower their electric usage and reduce their bills. 

With help from the Kentucky Power Foundation, River Cities Harvest now has a new van to safely deliver food to people in need.
