Kentucky Power is proud to announce the results of the sixth annual Power Up the Pantry food drive. The event, held Sept. 25 in Ashland, Hazard and Pikeville, brought in 2,593 pounds of food and $26,186 in donations, including $25,000 in grants awarded to the food banks by the Kentucky Power Foundation, helping provide thousands of meals for families facing food insecurity.

Kentucky Power is excited to announce the launch of new energy efficiency programs this week to help customers lower their electric usage and reduce their bills. 

With help from the Kentucky Power Foundation, River Cities Harvest now has a new van to safely deliver food to people in need.

Kentucky Power President Cindy Wiseman issued a statement in response to the complaint filed by Kentucky’s Attorney General and the Public Service Commission with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission March 12 and the associated news release.

American Electric Power is providing relief to Appalachian communities impacted by historic flooding in mid-February. To help those affected recover and rebuild, the AEP Foundation, the Kentucky Power Foundation and the Appalachian Power Foundation have contributed $150,000 toward relief efforts in eastern Kentucky, southwest Virginia and southern West Virginia. 

The Salvation Army of Northeast Kentucky has received a generous $10,000 gift from Kentucky Power Foundation to support rental assistance funding, helping prevent homelessness for residents in Boyd, Greenup, and Lawrence counties.

In a significant step to support energy efficiency improvements in eastern Kentucky, the Kentucky Power Foundation announced $1 million in weatherization readiness grants awarded to local Community Action Kentucky agencies. This funding will enhance existing weatherization initiatives by providing funding for critical home repairs that are necessary for homeowners to qualify for weatherization assistance.

With low temperatures expected to persist through the end of the month, Kentucky Power is committed to bringing awareness to efficiency tips that can help reduce energy consumption and payment assistance programs available to help customers manage winter bills.

The Breaks-Dorton Transmission Improvements Project open house scheduled for Thursday, January 9, in the Shelby Valley High School Student Center has been postponed.

The American Electric Power Foundation has awarded a $52,500 grant to Hindman Settlement School in Knott County to empower nutritional education and service opportunities for the people of Appalachia. The grant was recommended by Kentucky Power to address the issues of food insecurity and health disparities facing the region.
