About Kentucky Power and HomeServe

As a homeowner, you may be unaware that you are responsible for any needed repairs to the electric service line that connects your property to our equipment.

A protection plan to help cover the risk of repairs is an optional purchase. It is not required for electric service from Kentucky Power. We recommend researching options and deciding for yourself what, if any, protection plan is right for you and your budget.

We make coverage from HomeServe available as an optional purchase for those who want the convenience of billing through Kentucky Power. HomeServe charges are itemized separately on your bill. Although we collect payments for HomeServe, your ability to pay off HomeServe charges has no effect on the continued delivery of electricity to your home. You will not be disconnected because there is a HomeServe balance.

FAQ

Can I choose to opt-out of HomeServe mailings?

Yes. Opting out is easy. Choose one of the options below. Please allow 4-6 weeks for your request to be implemented.

  • You may opt out of HomeServe online.
  • You may opt out by calling 855-239-4822
  • You may opt out by emailing privacy@homeserveusa.com
    - Write "Opt-Out" in the Subject Line
    - Include your mailing address in the body of the email
Are the home protection plans being offered by Kentucky Power or HomeServe?

The home protection plans are sold and administered by HomeServe. We provide a convenient billing solution for customers who want to make this optional purchase from HomeServe.

How did Kentucky Power select HomeServe?

We conducted a competitive bidding process called a Request For Proposal (RFP). Several companies that offer protection plans participated by submitting proposals for Kentucky Power to evaluate. We reviewed their terms of service, cost, and the references of the competing companies and selected HomeServe.

HomeServe covered our entire service territory, vetted qualified local contractors, and had good references. It has an "A" rating with the Better Business Bureau with over 1 million customers nationally.

Is Kentucky Power getting paid by HomeServe?

Kentucky Power receives a commission for each plan sold.

HomeServe provides many types of protection plans, not just exterior electrical. Does Kentucky Power endorse those, too?

Kentucky Power does not endorse any products or services sold by any third party. We recommend researching all options and making a decision based on what is best for you and your budget. This is an optional purchase, and you may decline the option entirely, with no impact on your electric service from us.

Does Kentucky Power direct customers to other companies offering electric line protection plans?

No. You are free to pick any company that offer protection plans, or none at all.

What Does "Remember User ID” Mean?

“Remember User ID” helps you log in without having to memorize your ID or look it up every time. When you opt in, we automatically fill in your ID from then on. To avoid unauthorized access, you’ll still have to enter your password.
