Kentucky Power has proposed new programs to help customers save money on electric bills and use less energy. Recognizing the hardship of rising energy costs across the nation and in Kentucky Power's service area, this is one of several ways the company is trying to help customers save money.
The programs are currently pending at the Kentucky Public Service Commission and we anticipate a response in the early part of 2025.
Demand Side Management (DSM), also known as "weatherization" or "energy efficiency," programs are designed to improve a home's energy efficiency and help customers lower their electricity usage. The main goal of DSM is to reduce overall energy consumption which will lower the cost of energy bills.
Kentucky Power's request includes the following program expansion and new programs to help qualifying residential and commercial customers become more energy efficient to save money:
The goal of DSM programs is to maximize benefits to customers while minimizing rate impact. As proposed, the programs will cost residential customers 73 cents a month.
